Visit Hanifaru Bay for an unforgettable diving experience

The Hanifaru Bay in Maldives is one of the most popular and interesting scuba diving destinations in the whole world. This unihabited island at the Baa Atoll has become a hot destination for marine enthusiasts and scuba divers everywhere. Hanifaru Bay in Maldives is specifically frequented during the months of May to November, when hundreds of Manta Rays visit the site to feed off the coral reefs. There are plenty of whale sharks as well, making the place even more attractive to divers.
Plankton Feeding at Hanifaru Bay Maldives
The magic of Hanifaru Bay in Maldives lies in an interesting phenomenon that occurs during the months of May to November. A lunar tide that pushes against the south western monsoon current of the Indian Ocean results to a suction effect that attracts plankton from deeps waters up to the surface. Because the plankton avoids daylight, it gets stuck in the current, allowing endless feeding opportunities for Manta Rays and Whale Sharks in Maldives.
Due to this massive plankton feeding frenzy caused by this unusual phenomenon, Hanifaru Bay Maldives has become one of the greatest scuba diving destinations in the world. It is regarded as a place that any underwater photographer or marine enthusiast, must visit at least once in their lives.
Hanifaru Bay in Maldives is a Marine Protected Area
In order to preserve the amazing underwater behavior that occurs in Maldives Hanifaru Bay, the local government has included this precious dive destination as a marine protected area. The Maldives Government believes that excess diving activities in Hanifaru Bay may cause the Manta Ray feeding frenzy to change. There are some guidelines and regulations when diving Hanifaru Bay, as the government aims for the betterment of both divers and these creatures.

Bluepeace Environmental was founded September 11, 1989 by a young group who were determined to preserve the Maldives and spare it from environmental corruption. Bluepeace Environmental is a non-government association that independently does the checks and balances needed to preserve the environmental integrity of the Republic of Maldives. Bluepeace environmental keeps true to its goal of protecting and preventing irreversible harm to the Maldives’ ecosystem of marine, wild and coral reef life.
Bluepeace Environmental is responsible for campaigns that help save the endangered species from extinction and campaigns for awareness so that everyone in the Maldives can do their part in preserving their environment.
A popular Bluepeace campaign which opened the eyes of the world to the delicate life of the marine turtles and how they were being abused. The awareness sparked by bluepeace through this campaign was so massive that it gathered international media and evidently and most importantly… helped save the marine turtles.

Bluepeace Environmental also concerns itself with the legislation of environmental Maldivian law which is quite a feat. Legistation or law making is probably the groups more important activities. The Maldives and its people are responsible enough to take care of their own land to last it a long long time. Now I think we can do the same. Thanks to Bluepeace Environmental.
